Choosing the RIGHT designer
The Logo Designing started back in 19th century, when industrial manufactured products became more important than the handmade products. The industrial products were developed in a high volume and in less time. Many competitors arrived from time to time offering the same kind of product, from where the problem arose of differentiating the products from the series of products manufactured by different industries. Then the manufacturers started to include a symbol or an emblem with their products so that their product can be easily recognized.
As the time passed the logo designing became more important and in the cyber-world thousands of companies are being formed on daily basis, most of them have a unique logo design. The reason for telling the brief history of logo designing is that there are thousands of millions of logo designs being created and it’s hard to create something that is not yet created and help you register your company trademark without any obligation. It has now become a challenge for logo designers to develop a unique and memorable design.
Think you can save yourself some money by designing your own logo? Think again! There is no theory of logo design. The knowledge of logo designing comes from research and experience. A good logo designer spends most of the time thinking and researching about typography, design balance and innovative ideas which helps him to create a unique identity for his clients. An experienced designer has spent years designing and helping clients achieve their branding goals and he knows that what works and what not! It’s only a matter of trust, if you trust your designer; he won’t let you down. For example if you go to the auto-mechanic to repair your car; do you tell the mechanic the procedure how your car can be repaired? Or you only tell him that you want your car in a good working condition. But before you give him your trust; its good know about his level of experience.
Fortune 500 companies allocate millions of dollars each year just to develop their brand and promote their corporate identity. The logo is the base of the branding and corporate identity. Their corporate logos also have certain qualities that make them more memorable and easy to distinguish from other corporate companies. These all qualities are encompassed in the design which is made through techniques and research.
You might save some money in the short run by designing the logo yourself or hiring a beginner designer but what if you have to have your logo redesigned in a year or two because it’s not conveying the right message or looking amateurish? So, when it comes to a good logo design which is going to represent your company in the future, saving a few bucks by getting it developed by local print shops who hire so-called graphic designers whose job is to fix the design for printing (I call them OPERATORS) is not always the best course of action.
